Definitely a good idea! We got a screw in one with a gate that locks from a hardware store (I’m from New Zealand and we bought it at Placemakers). If your local hardware store doesn’t have them – look them up on the internet

The one I had was bought at walmart I think. It was a swing gate and very hard for kids to open it. Kinda hard for me actually lol but hey it worked. I’m not sure if that’s where my parents bought it so I’ll ask them tomorrow and email ya.
The one I had was made of thick plastic so you didn’t have to worry about it breaking.

i have a dream baby gate that is pressure mounted and it is great, but i am pretty sure that it came with the materials to mount it to the walls if needed….and it comes with extensions too…has served us well so far…gl

Your baby will not go down the stairs.
(at least the entire baby will not go down the stairs.)

I’m not sure the names of the ones I’ve used, but none of them lasted more than a month before they figured out how to get them open.

we have two evenflo brand gates and i would NOT buy another; they constantly need adjustment to close properly; our other gate is a dream baby, and we haven’t had to adjust it in over a year, but it is constant with the evenflos we have on the stairs ; not sure it’s the same model as you are looking at, but i have always thought they made cheap products and i couldn’t find another gate that would work with our stairs and they are crap and haven’t been up nearly as long as the dream baby…if i were you i would keep looking, i went against my better judgement and now i regret it..
