Your Baby’s Tenth Month – What Are the Things to Look Out For
The tenth month of your babyâ??s life is one of mobility. By now, he or she should be crawling all of the time. Your child has probably mastered this motion so that they move along smoothly, rather than rocking back and forth and jerking around. Plus, they will have developed enough hand and arm strength to support themselves on only one arm. What will they do with the other one? Reach for objects of course, and then put them in their mouths.
During the tenth month, your child will probably push the limits of his mobility. Heâ??ll start crawling up stairs if you let him. However, he wonâ??t be able to crawl back down. To keep him safe, invest in a few baby gates to section off the steps so he canâ??t get hurt. You may also notice that your baby has started to pull himself up from a sitting position into a standing one. This development will happen slowly; youâ??ll probably have to help him a lot at first. However, this simple motion will help strengthen his legs and help him learn balance for when he does start to walk.
This is a time of exploration for Junior, and the two of you should really enjoy it. By now, because heâ??s examined so many objects, he learns about object permanence. What does that mean? If you hide an object under a blanket, your child will know itâ??s still there. Younger children may think that objects disappear when they donâ??t have them, but your baby no longer will. This is good and bad. You can play hiding games with your infant â?? as long as they are simple, such as hiding a block under a blanket and letting him pull the block out. However, your child may start crying when you take toys away. Theyâ??ll know you have the toys, and theyâ??ll cry because they want them back.
Also, your childâ??s dexterity will improve. Heâ??ll be able to transfer an object from one hand to another. This shows that his grip is really improving. Be sure to give him lots of toys to practice with.
Enjoy this month, because as your baby grows older, heâ??ll start getting into even more â??trouble.â? Heâ??ll become more mobile very quickly. Plus, that babbling will start to really evolve. The next steps involve walking and talking, so be prepared and excited!
